DARWIN'S DAY

Did you know that the great English scientist Charles Darwin was born on 12th February 1809?

En efecto, mañana se cumplirá el bicentenario de su nacimiento.

For this reason, the students of Bachillerato are going to have special activities to commemorate it. Among them , the projection of a film in English original version with spanish subtitles.

La película se titula Herencia del viento / Inherit the Wind y cuenta la historia real de un maestro que fue detenido en Tennessee en 1925 por explicar a sus alumnos la teoria de la evolución de Darwin.

The protagonist of the film is Spencer Tracy and it was directed by Stanley Kramer in 1960. The students of 1st year of Bachillerato will see it during tomorrow two last lessons.

Esta actividad ha sido elaborada por los departamentos de Biología y Geología, Filosofía e Inglés, que en sus respectivas materias trataran aspectos significativos de la obra de Darwin.

There will also be an exhibition of science projects done by the students of 4th year of ESO and 1st year of Bachillerato.

Here, you can see the pictures of some of the activities we have done . You've got pictures of Thanksgiving Day. We talked about the history of this celebration and tried typical food of it. As you can see in the pictures, some of the teachers dressed up as Indians and pilgrims.

Aquí podéis ver fotos de algunas de las actividades realizadas en el centro. Aparecen las fotos del día de acción de gracias. Ese día hablamos de la historia de esta fiesta y probamos comida típica de esta fiesta. Como podéis ver en las fotografías, algunos profesores fueron disfrazados de indios y peregrinos.

There are also some pictures of December 23rd, when after the performance of the school choir, we saw the film "What a wonderful life!".

Hay también fotos del día 23 de diciembre, ese día , después de la actuación del coro del instituto , vimos la película "¡Qué bello es vivir!".

LOS PADRES DE RACHAEL NOS HICIERON UNA VISITA.
RACHAEL'S PARENTS CAME TO VISIT THE BILINGUAL CLASS.

On December 22nd, Rachel's parents, Erik and Ruth, came to the school to visit the teachers and students. The bilingual class had a tea party with Rosa, Paola, Rachael and her parents. They talked about life in the USA and the students told them about Spain. we drank tea and ate muffins and carrot cake.
¡Fue muy interesante para todos!

El pasado 22 de diciembre, los padres de Raquel, Erik y Ruth, vinieron al instituto a visitarnos. La clase de secciones europeas tuvo una pequeña fiesta con ellos, Rosa, Paola y Raquel. Nos hablaron sobre la vida en los EEUU y los alumnos les contaron cosas sobre España. Bebimos té y comimos "muffins" y pastel de zanahoria.

Cineclub : "Qué bello es vivir"/ "What a wonderful life"

Film of the month: "What a wonderful life". The famous Christmas movie will be projected for all the students at school next Tuesday, December 23rd at 11.45 in room A027. English original version with Spanish subtitles.

Película de este mes: "Qué bello es vivir". La célebre película navideña se proyectará para todos los alumnos del centro, el próximo martes, día 23 de diciembre a las 11.45 en el aula A027. Versión original en inglés con subtítulos en castellano.

As it is the usual thing in our projections, our film expert, Enrique Cejudo will make the presentation of the film and will be the moderator of the after-film debate. It is a good opportunity to start celebrating Christmas and at the same time to practise your English.
