CINECLUB: GREASE

    On 8th August 2022 the great actress and singer Olivia Newton-John passed away after being fighting against cancer for several decades. All of us will always remember her as the Sandy who seduced the rebellious Danny Zuko in GREASE.  For this reason, our cineclub wants to honour her by projecting the wonderful musical.

 Here you are the pictures of our Halloween celebration last Thursday. As you can see, there were many witches, little demons, zombies and vampires around . Allissa explained to us lots of things about this celebration in The Philippines and we ate scary candy. It was great fun!!! Enjoy your Halloween!!

ALLISSA'S INTRODUCTION PICTURES

 

Here are the pictures taken at Allissa's introduction last Tuesday. The students and teachers that came could enjoy a fun energizer introduction (watch the video below) and then all of us learnt very interesting facts about her country, city, and herself. We even learnt to say "thank you" in Tagalog, one of the official languages in the Philippines.

CINECLUB: THE GOONIES

And to finish the "cineclub"season, we are going to project a classic teen adventure film :  THE GOONIES.

 Come to enjoy yourself living the exploits and adventures this group of American teenagers had to face. There is a bit of everything: mystery, humor, horror and even love!

The film will be projected earlier than usual , at 15.30.  So, we'll have a picnic at the school gardens. Bring your sandwich and join us!!

GOODBYE LIZ!

 

This morning we said goodbye to Liz, our language assistant for the school year. It has been a pleasure have her at the IES LUIS DE LUCENA and we will never forget her nice smile and her soft manners when introducing our students to the English language and the American culture.

All the students and teachers were so thankful that prepared a kind of goodbye event in which emotional tears were shed , presents were given and the students of 1st and 2nd year bilingual classes performed body percussion for her with Gemma , the music teacher.

THANKS VERY MUCH, LIZ!! YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR HEARTS!!

SAINT PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATION

 

Here are the pictures of Saint Patrick's celebration at Luis de Lucena. Our language assistant, Liz, told us very interesting things about this Irish festivity , which is also widely celebrated in many parts of the United States. There was a T/F quiz and the students could also try Irish chocolate and Scottish short bread. Of course, those dressed for the occasion had a little"green" present.

CINECLUB: LA LA LAND

Los Angeles, the city of stars, Mia and Sebastian are struggling to succeed in their respective careers, acting and jazz. Music will accompany them in their search for their dreams and love with already mythical songs such as “Another Day of Sun” or “City of Stars”, Oscar for best original song in 2017. The six-oscar awarded film in 2017 will be projected on:
